Of the rest of the Doctors, Tom Baker's 4th Doctor is my second-favorite and the 5th and 7th Doctors (played by Peter Davison and Sylvester McCoy respectively) are tied for third. While I haven't seen every Doctor Who episode, I have seen most of the "famous" stories and I devour the novels — I think in general, they're the best-written media-based SF out there. Although
I'd seen the odd (in more ways than one!) Doctor Who episode
while growing up (and laughted at its infamous not-so-special effects),
I didn't become a fan until 1996 when I saw the Fox TV movie. Naturally
then, Paul McGann's 8th Doctor is my favorite.
