How do I get Doug's autograph?

Write Doug and ask for it. You can email Doug by signing the guestbook on his website, www.DouglasWilson.ws. Doug mails out autographed postcards to most everyone who asks (and some who don't). I think Doug saves up requests then mails out the postcards in a batch. I've seen people receive postcards in as little as a week or two after requesting them and as much as a month or two. If a couple months have passed and you still haven't received anything, try asking again. It might also help if you include a fan message with your autograph request so that you don't sound like an autograph dealer who only wants Doug's signature to sell on ebay.

Does Doug reply to emails? How long does it take?

I think Doug keeps fairly up to date with reading emails. He usually reads them within a day or two of when they are sent, or if he's out of town, a day or two of when he gets back. If he's going to respond, he usually responds right away, i.e. within minutes of reading the email. I once received a reply from Doug around 10 minutes after I emailed him!

As for what kinds of messages will get a response from Doug, there's no pattern that I can discern. I think it comes down to whatever catches Doug's fancy at a moment when he has time to respond, e.g. I was not the only one to send Doug the ebay URL for the Doug action figure but for whatever reason, I was the one he chose to reply to.

I haven't noticed any difference between emailing Doug through his guestbook and emailing him directly via his email address. When you fill out the guestbook, your message goes to the same email address that Doug responds from, so it works just like emailing him directly.
