Knoxville: Stubb's BluffDescription: "Cocteau Country" kitchen (TLC episode page) How To
From an article Doug wrote for Paint Ideas:
Have you ever had a project that just did not go the way you expected? Well, I have! My brainstorm was to create plaster dipped art pieces. Making a long story short, it did not work out as initially planned. Never-the-less I was going to achieve the desired look. Here's how!
- Shovel & fork
- Wire brush
- 2 cans Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Clean Metal Spray Primer
- Drill
- Long wood screw
- Silver wire
- I removed all loose plaster from shovel and fork, however keeping some of the dried and secure plaster on will help give it a more artistic feel.
- Spray items with Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Clean Metal Primer to achieve the flat matte look of plaster.
- Drill a pilot hole through the middle of shovel and fork handles and join with a long wood screw.
- Using silver wire, wrap it around joint of both handles to secure and hide screw.
- Mount on desired wall for that interesting conversation starter art piece.
Be creative with those old seemingly useless items around your home. Sometimes big changes can be achieved with the simplest of tasks for great new looks. One can of spray paint or primer can make an incredible change. Have Fun!
