Trivia

Doug wasn't happy with his design for this episode because of the large size of the room (a living and dining room combination) and that there too many "restrictions" on what he could change (for example, not altering the sofa and carpet).

However, the homeowners saw things differently — they think this is one of Doug's best rooms because he gave them everything they wanted! The homeowners say that the only restrictions they placed on the room was that their Amish tables (coffee table, sofa table, two end tables and entertainment center) were not to be painted. They didn't mind Doug staining it. They would have loved to get rid of the sofa and carpet but were told there wasn't the budget for it. To date, they still love the room and haven't changed the design.

This episode was Doug's first time working with new Trading Spaces designer Kia Steave-Dickerson.
