Sharon's holodeck

Fandom... the final frontier

Star Trek was my first fandom, so it's the show that I've accumulated the most STUFF about.

From 1993-1998, I went on a five-year mission as chief of communications for the USS Hudson Bay, a Toronto-based fan club. During that time I attended more cons than I can count, marched in parades, volunteered at food banks, ate gourmet food at fancy charity dinners, was interviewed for a Trek documentary, acted in plays, learned to sew to make costumes, published a fanzine and decorated cakes. And that's just a shortlist of the "strange new worlds" I found myself taking part in!

As editor for the club's newsletter, The Voyageur (which started publishing in 1990),  I documented most of my adventures in photos and writings...

The club put out a special issue of the newsletter
for Toronto Trek '95. It proved so popular that
not only did non-members want to buy copies, but
several actor guests requested copies for themselves!
Above is my copy — autographed by Mira Furlan
and Tim Russ, who were guests of the con that year.
