And I gotta say... I don't have a question I just wanted to kinda defend Doug. When people come on this show and say that they dont want some things touched I think this is crazy. I think they should trust the designer and hope for the best because the rooms always look great:)

And I gotta say... I think Doug is probably a pretty nice guy. I saw him on the View a couple of months ago and he seemed like a nice down to earth person. I think the arrogance on TS is just his way of having fun with the homeowners.
This has nothing to do with Doug but the other day I read an article in some magazine that said that they have a lot of helpers on TS that work behind the scenes. They have like six carpenters to help out Ty & Amy and helpers to get the homework done.
Webmaster replies: According to Doug, there's only one backup carpenter nicknamed Fast Eddie. There are behind-the-scenes assistants who do some of the work, but this is because the homeowners and designer are often called away to film scenes. The assistants do the work that would be done by the homeowners and designer if they were actually working on the room full-time instead of shooting a TV show.

I just love Doug's... absence on Trading Spaces
And I gotta say... I don't watch episodes with Doug or Hildi anymore. Their arrogance and ego are too much to bear. The foot episode when the homeowner specifically pointed out her disdain for feet and he plopped a huge painting of a foot in the most prominent place in the room proved how full of himself he is. That episode showed he was not interested in pleasing the homeowner but rather make the whole thing about HIMSELF. In addition, the lowlife is clipping his toenails when the neighbors arrive to start the project. He disgusts me.
Webmaster replies: While Doug considers the "Back From Brazil" design his least successful on Trading Spaces, the foot painting is not the reason why. The foot art was a joke. Even the homeowner realized this. In fact, when the episode premiered, the homeowners had a Trading Spaces viewing party at their house and put the foot painting back on the wall for the evening!

And I gotta say... I met Doug in Maine. He is a CLASS A Asshole. He threw a fit during the shoot over a hot glue gun and marched off the set in his little Italian Boots. He is arrogant, insecure and petty little man.
Webmaster replies: Yes, Doug does tend to stress out when faced with time constraints. It's hard to imagine tempers not flaring occasionally under the pressure cooker of the show. I've heard homeowner stories about Vern berating the camera crew when things don't go his way! Congrats, you're only the third person I know to have met Doug and come away with a bad impression. (The other two were homeowners such as Crying Pam!)
